The Official Bio of Yigal Rechtman

Yigal Rechtman, CPA served in the Israeli communication corps from 1986 to 1989. Rechtman graduated in 1994 from New York University with a B.A. in computer science, and in 2002 with an M.S. in accounting from Pace University.

Rechtman is an auditor and computer specialist at Person & Company, CPAs (New York, NY). He is also a member of the Information System Audit and Control Association (ISACA).

Born in Jerusalem, Israel in 1967, Yigal Rechtman grew up on Kibbutz Tzora. When growing up on the Kibbutz he was introduced to computer programming. During his high school year, Rechtman developed several mainframe software packages, and consulted the Israeli ministry of Agriculture.

In 1989, after a military service in the Israeli Defense Force's Communication Corps in Israel, Rechtman moved to the U.S. where he obtained a Computer Science degree from New York University.

In 2002 Rechtman obrained an MS in Accounting from Pace University, New York. Following his graduation he continued to work as a computer specialist and an auditor. In 2003 he was licensed by New York State as a Certified Public Accountant.

Since 1986, Rechtman researched his his own genealogy while he developed and assisted with the research other areas of genealogy. In 1999 Rechtman published his own family's history book. He also maintains the Social Security and Genealogy FAQ and a few other genealogical resources on line.

Yigal Rechtman is married to Rabbi Hara Person, and has two children.
